Built Around One Belief
Most construction problems are not field problems. They are planning problems. Scope problems. Coordination issues that nobody dealt with early enough.
Grove General was built around that reality. We get involved before the problems get expensive. We find the real scope, close the gaps, get ahead of procurement, and run projects the way they should be run.
We are not the biggest contractor in the room. We are the most prepared.
Our clients are owners, developers, and operators who have figured out that a low bid does not mean the job is covered. They call Grove General because they want someone who knows where jobs go sideways and deals with it before they get there.
Cost vs. Value
The construction market has trained owners to compare price. Grove General believes that is the wrong comparison.
It shows up as schedule delays, cost growth, change-order pressure, and delayed openings. We reduce that risk before it gets expensive. Get us involved early and we will tell you what the project actually requires.
Rules of Engagement
Relationships > Money
We are playing long-term. A client who trusts us is worth more than any single job. We do not optimize for the transaction. We optimize for the relationship.
One-Hour Callbacks
We return calls within one hour. Communication is the first thing most contractors let slip. We make it a standard, not an aspiration.
Control Perception
Do not leave how you are perceived to chance. Share good news early. Flag problems before the owner asks. In an industry where bad news travels slow and late, being the source of clear and honest communication is a competitive advantage.
Leave a Dollar in the Bowl
Leave value on the table. Every time. We are not here to extract every dollar from every situation. The clients who feel like we looked out for them are the ones who call us back.
Give First, Ask Second
Find the deductive before you propose the additive. Solve the problem before you make the request. We earn the right to ask by giving first. That is what creates repeat clients.

Justin Barton
Founder & Principal
Before Grove General, Justin founded another successful local construction company and later served as VP of Operations for another large regional GC, where he managed numerous Costco projects, including the Tracy Distribution Depot — one of the most logistically complex commercial projects in the Central Valley.
Grove General was built around what he learned across all of it: the most expensive problems in construction are the ones nobody dealt with early enough. Get the scope right before you mobilize. Get ahead of procurement. Close the design gaps before the ink dries. That is how you sell certainty instead of just a bid. Every project reflects that conviction. Grove General was built to operate at a level of focus and accountability that most commercial contractors do not reach. Every project reflects that.

Hank (Head of Security): The black, white, and tan Cavalier on the left. Hank manages perimeter awareness, visitor screening, and knows the exact moment the refrigerator door opens. Uncertified, but entirely unrivaled.
Beau (Director of Morale & Ball Retrieval): The brown Boxer mix on the right. Beau brings pure energy to every meeting, site visit, and lap. Boasting a 100% fetch completion rate, he is proof that attitude is half the job—just be prepared for the occasional welcome drool.
